Crude Unchanged After Surprise Crude Stock Build

Crude relatively unchanged and cracks just slightly lower after EIA show an unexpected large build of 8.85mbbls crude inventories

  • Crude production was unchanged but refining utilization fell, exports fell and imports increased
  • Implied gasoline and distillate demand increased marginally but the 4-week average remains down at 2020 levels.
  • Distillate and gasoline stocks showed small builds with exports still high

    • WTI OCT 22 up 1.8% at 83.41$/bbl
    • WTI-Brent up 0.22$/bbl at -6.01$/bbl
    • Brent NOV 22-DEC 22 up 0.13$/bbl at 0.92$/bbl
    • Brent DEC 22-DEC 23 up 0.58$/bbl at 8.35$/bbl
    • US gasoline crack down -0.7$/bbl at 14.33$/bbl
    • US ULSD crack down -2.9$/bbl at 64.87$/bbl
