Current Injections vs Normal Would Fill Euro Storage by Mid August

NATURAL GAS

European natural gas storage injections have continued about 17% below normal over the last week with total gas in store up to 73.98% full on 17 June according to GIE data compared to the five year average of 57.3%.

  • Net injections have been about 80% of the five year average rate this season since 1 April but are still on track to comfortably reach the 90% full target before winter. An injection rate holding at 80% of the previous ten year average over the summer would bring storage up to the target by mid August.
  • Net European storage injections have averaged about 3,250GWh/d so far in June compared to the five year average for the period of nearly 4,090GWh/d.
  • Storage in Germany is at 193.7Wh (78.4% full), Italy is at 153.7TWh (78.8%), Netherlands at 105.8TWh (74.3%), Austria at 77.3TWh (79.7%) and France at 77.3TWh (58.6%).
