CZECHIA: Bartos Holds Talks With Municipal Representatives

CZECHIA
  • Seznam Zpravy interviewed several experts, who suggested that Czechia's natural growth rate might be even slower than the CNB's estimate, even as the central bank recently trimmed it to +2.5% from +3.0%. Patria Finance Chief Economist Jan Bures told the newspaper that Czechia's economic model is nearing exhaustion, which comes with a slowdown in the pace of productivity growth. Akcenta analyst Miroslav Novak attributed this to "soft factors such as the quality of institutions, the intensity of R&D or the development of infrastructure." Bures and Deloitte Chief Economist David Marek said that the natural growth rate could be between +2.0-2.5%.
  • Regional Development Minister Ivan Bartos will hold consultations with representatives of municipal authorities on the digital system for construction procedures. Botched attempts at the digitisation of the system have put Bartos under heavy political pressure, with some calling for his resignation. Local media outlets recently reported that coalition partners are ready to negotiate his exit should he fail to solve current issues by the end of this month.
  • The Senate's Energy and Transport Sub-Committee will discuss the procurement of new reactors at the Dukovany nuclear plant from 09:00BST/10:00CEST.
