CZECHIA: Finance Ministry Holds Floating-Rate Bond Auction

CZECHIA
  • Parliament is working on legislation that would change the regulations on the nomination of presidential candidates. A Senate committee will today discuss an amendment which would prohibit lawmakers from supporting two candidacies at the same time, while citizens will be allowed to sign the lists of support for potential candidates online. As things stand, in order to register as a candidate one needs to collect 50 thousand signatures or secure the support of 20 parliamentarians. If approved, the proposed changes will take effect from the beginning of 2026.
  • ANO expelled Chomutov Mayor Marek Hrabac from its ranks after he was accused of financial crimes. The party called on its regional organisation to facilitate his ouster from the post of the mayor and said that ex-Deputy Prime Minister Richard Brabec will take over as leader of the ANO campaign for the upcoming regional elections.
  • The Finance Ministry holds an auction for floating-rate bonds maturing in 2043.
