CZECHIA: Q3 GDP Growth Confirmed At +1.3% Y/Y, CNB To Comment On Data Today
CZECHIA
- The CZSO released preliminary Q3 GDP data this morning, with growth confirmed at +1.3% Y/Y, consistent with the advance estimate. The sequential reading was corrected by 0.1pp higher to +0.4% Q/Q. The CZSO said that the "year-on-year GDP growth was mainly supported by higher final consumption expenditure," while "growing final consumption expenditure of households and change in inventories were the main factors of the quarter-on-quarter growth." The central bank will release comments on the latest round of GDP data on its website at 12:00GMT/13:00CET.
- Seznam Zpravy reported that ex-Prime Minister Andrej Babis's ANO party, which leads in most opinion polls, decided to set itself the ambitious goal of seeking a single-party majority in parliament after the 2025 election. To that effect, they are planning to switch to more aggressive tactics and focus their campaign not only on attacking the current ruling coalition, but also other opposition parties, in order to take over their electorates. ANO's first deputy leader Karel Havlicek said that the party wants to dominate the election rather than win by a hair's breadth.
- Lidove Noviny reported that ANO is already looking for suitable candidates for a potential government, should it manage to win the election next year. The party's deputy leader Radek Vondracek is reportedly eyeing the position of Foreign Minister. Vondracek confirmed being "interested" in eventually taking the post and said that he has the support of ex-President Milos Zeman.
- The CNB will release October money supply data at the top of the hour. The report is not normally a market-mover.
