Dardanelles Northbound Vessel Traffic Resumes

Ship traffic has resumed in one direction on the Dardanelles Strait after wildfires closed it this week.

  • The official did not confirm which direction vessels were moving in but shipping agency Tribeca said northbound ships would be allowed to transit from 0800 GMT Thursday.
  • More than 150 ships had been halted at the north and south entrances to the Dardanelles on Wednesday according to Reuters reports.
  • The closure has so far had limited impact on oil and oil product flows according to Bloomberg vessel tracking analysis.
