US DATA PREVIEW
US DATA PREVIEW: Data on January personal income is scheduled to be released at
8:30 am ET (13:30 GMT) Friday and is expected to show a 0.3% increase by both
the Bloomberg consensus and an MNI survey, reflecting the solid gain in payrolls
that should also boost the backlogged December personal income reading.
- Nominal PCE, which will be released for December only, is expected to decline
by 0.3% by the consensus reading and by 0.1% by the MNI survey. Both forecasts
take into account the shockingly large decline in the retail sales data in
December.
- The closely-watched core PCE price measure, which will also be only for
December, are expected to rise by 0.2%, based on both the consensus and MNI
estimates. This would keep the year/year rate at 1.9%.
