US DATA: Dec housing starts -11.2% to 1.078m SAAR, below the 1.250m rate 
expected by both an MNI survey and the Bloomberg consensus, following 
downward revisions to the previous two months.
- Starts by region were generally down. Starts in the South -6.0%, 
the Midwest -13.2%, the West -26.3%, and flat in the Northeast. 1-family 
starts -6.7%, while multi-family starts -20.4%. 
- Building permits +0.3% to 1.326m SAAR vs 1.289m expected by an MNI 
survey and 1.290m SAAR expected by the Bloomberg consensus. 1-family 
-2.2%, while multi-family +4.9%. 
- Housing completions -2.7% to 1.097m SAAR.
