December Hike Very Likely, Magnitude Will Depend on Inflation Data

  • Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki meets U.K. counterpart Boris Johnsonin London on Friday to discuss situation at the border with Belarus and energy prices (BBG).
  • NBP Governor Glapinski mentioned in an interview yesterday that the central bank will continue to hike interest rates 'if needed' to curb inflation, which is now standing at a 2-decade high.
  • Even though the NBP 'refused' to comment if the two previous hikes were implying that the central bank has embarked into a tightening cycle, odds for a December hike are very likely.
  • The magnitude of the hike will strongly depend on the inflation data coming out on November 30.
