Defensive Feel Amid Holiday-Thinned Markets

EQUITIES

Continental equities are mixed-to-lower in Europe, with Spain underperforming (down 0.9%) while Germany's DAX sits broadly flat. Macro drivers are few and far between Thursday, with the Thanksgiving holidays in the US keeping US markets closed throughout the day (and see an early close tomorrow).

In Europe, financials and energy are slipping, with defensive names including healthcare and tech at the top of the pile. Notable individual performers include UK banks, which trade particularly heavy, with the likes of Lloyds Banking Group, Natwest and Barclays all down 4% or more as the UK disclose the tiers that English regions will emerge into when national lockdown concludes on December 2nd.
