US TSYS SUMMARY: Despite what is likely to be a fairly uneventful Fed decision
Wednesday, the week has opened with a bang on the back of China coronavirus
fears, and knock-on demand for safe havens boosting volumes.
- Mar 10-Yr futures (TY) up 17/32 at 130-26 (L: 130-17 / H: 130-31) on big
volumes, 670k traded as of 0630ET.
- The 2-Yr yield is down 5.8bps at 1.4367%, 5-Yr is down 6.9bps at 1.4349%,
10-Yr is down 6.6bps at 1.6183%, and 30-Yr is down 5.9bps at 2.073%.
- Some renewed risk-off attention on Trump impeachment as well, with former NSA
advisor Bolton's alleged claim that the president wanted to freeze aid Ukraine
until the government investigated Dems' Biden. Senate trial resumes 1300ET.
- Also possibly risk-off over the weekend, Dems' Sanders overtook Biden as
front-runner for nomination (35% to 32%, per Betfair).
- Pretty light on data: Dec new home sales at 1000ET, Jan Dallas Fed manuf
activity at 1030ET.
- MNI's FOMC preview will be out later today.
