Details Show Core CPI Growing at Fastest Pace in 10 Months

  • Chilean inflation beat looks driven by alcohol/tobacco (+2.7% M/M) and clothing/Shoes (+2.4% M/M), both of which swing higher after recording negative readings for December.
  • The Transportation subindex remains negative M/M, helping slow the Y/Y print to 14.9% from 18.3% previously, although is still one of the biggest contributors to Y/Y price rises.
  • A notable uptick for Core SAE M/M, which jumps to 1.1% from 0.2% previously, and the highest since March 2022's +1.20%.
