Dispute Panel Unlikely In USMCA Clash Over Autos Trade

  • Mexican President AMLO believes Mexico, Canada and the U.S. will be able to settle their differences over how to interpret auto rules of origin under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement without establishing a dispute settlement panel, he said on Thursday. (Inside Trade)
    • "We don't want to get to an international panel," López Obrador said when asked about the disagreement during a press conference. While dispute panels are an option under USMCA, he said, "I do not think it will get there."
    • He added that the Mexican Economy and Foreign Relations secretariats are overseeing the matter, according to an informally translated report from Expansión.
