Dividend Taxation Proposal Under Close Scrutiny

  • Brazil dividend taxation proposal is under strict examination, bill's rapporteur in the lower house Celso Sabino said in an interview.
    • Govt proposal to tax dividends at 20% with an exemption range of 20,000 reais for small companies will be discussed with leaders and Congress parties, and might change, according to Bloomberg.
    • He added Brazil is unlike to escape dividend taxation.
  • Despite the drop in mortality rates and ICU beds occupancy for adults, a new study shows that the Brazil still faces a high plateau of disease transmission, at a level higher than seen in 2020, according to a report disclosed by Brazilian health foundation Fiocruz. (BBG)
