Draught Indicates Freeport LNG Cargoes Increasing in Size

LNG

BW Cassia is heading from the newly-restarted US Freeport to UK Isle of Grain.

  • The high draught reading for the ship suggests it may be fully laden, unlike some earlier loadings that looked like half-cargoes according to ICIS.
  • One of the earlier cargoes to load from Freeport was on the Nohshu Maru, beloging to Japan's JERA. That ship is still waiting near Freeport, suggesting it may be waiting to go back to top up to a full cargo.
  • It's thought that when Freeport first started up in recent weeks it loaded some partial cargoes from volumes already in its storage tanks since the shutdown in June 2022, but now it is producing new LNG again.
  • Feedgas is reported at around 1.24 Bcf/day into Freeport, suggesting it is heading toward full operation of two trains.
