Duda Meets With Trump, NBP's Wnorowski Says Decisions On Energy Caps Increase Odds Of Rate Cuts

POLAND
  • President Andrzej Duda dined with Donald Trump, becoming the second EU leader to meet with the Republican presidential candidate before the November election. The two leaders discussed Duda's proposal to boost the defence spending target for NATO members to a minimum of 3% of GDP from the current 2%, as well as ongoing conflicts in Israel and Ukraine.
  • NBP's Henryk Wnorowski said that the government's plan to maintain a cap on energy prices (albeit with some changed parameters) should help stabilise inflation and increases the likelihood of an interest-rate cut later this year. The official added that the MPC could start first discussions about a rate cut when the new inflation projection is published in July.
  • Poland's consumer confidence data will cross the wires at 09:00BST/10:00CEST.
