East of Suez Diesel to Face Increased Competition

OIL PRODUCTS

Europe has largely filled its diesel import needs with supplies from East of Suez suppliers after the Russian fuel import ban was implemented Feb 5 according to Vortexa figures.

  • Now that Russia has implemented its own export ban September 21, these East of Suez supplies are likely to face higher global competition as trade flows reshuffle.
  • Russia’s western ports have almost no diesel exports planned next month based on the latest Bloomberg reports.
  • Less Russian diesel exports to Turkey has a knock-on impact for flows being re-exported to Europe. Brazil will also face tighter diesel markets with a lack of Russian supply with Brazilian purchasers likely to try and pivot back towards US Gulf supplies which have been heading to Europe.
