The European Commission approved the permanent operations of Germany’s four LNG terminals – Brunsbuttel, Stade and two units in Wilhelmshaven - it said, cited by Bloomberg. 

  • “The measure aims to address energy market disruptions caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the halt of pipeline gas supplies from Russia to Germany”, the EC said.
  • The approval includes the government’s plan to support state operator Deutsche Energy Terminal with €4.06bn in state aid between 2023 and 2033.
