EC Demands Uniper To Dispose Dutch Business

The European Commission has demanded that Germany’s Uniper divest its Dutch business to obtain regulatory approval for a rescue deal by the German government, according to Handelsblatt.

  • The EC set itself a deadline on 16 Dec to decide on whether or not to approve Germany’s bailout of Uniper.
  • In order to receive approval by the Commission, Uniper has to divest several small-scale gas-fired plants and the Maasvlakte MMP3 hard-coal fired plant.
