ECB Says Hungary Decree Impedes on NBH Independence

The ECB says a Hungarian government decree from March that barred big local investors and retail banks from putting cash in central bank credit facilities carrying 18% interest in a bid to curb the central bank’s ability to tighten monetary policy was a violation of its independence, according to an opinion published on its website.
