ECB Signals It Could Lift Bank Dividends Ban Next Year

The FT reports that "Eurozone banks will be allowed to pay dividends again from next year if they convince supervisors that their balance sheets are strong enough to survive the economic and financial fallout from the coronavirus pandemic". The article cites ECB Supervisory Vice Chair Yves Mersch as noting that "it would be difficult to maintain a dividend ban beyond the end of this year".
