Economic Activity Data Expected, Petro Reform Protests Expected

  • In Colombia, markets have re-opened after the Monday holiday with the currency little changed and IBR swap rates moving lower in unison with broader global fixed income moves and its Andean counterpart.
  • Today DANE will publish its index of economy growth for April. The data is scheduled for release at 1700BST/1200ET:
    • Economic activity April, y/y est. 0.2%, previous 1.6%
    • On Wednesday, DANE will publish data on imports and the trade balance for April.
  • Rallies and protests against President Petro’s biggest reforms are expected today in Colombia’s biggest cities. It is worth noting that today marks the end for Congress regular sessions and that over the weekend Petro said he will convene extraordinary sessions to debate the reforms and the budget addition.
