- Bloomberg Consensus: 101.8; Prev (Dec): 101.5 
- The European Commission's ESI is seen 0.3pt higher at 101.8 in Jan.
- This would mark the third successive uptick since the Oct slump to the lowest
level since Jan 2015, although the index still sits at historically low levels.
- Manuf sentiment has recorded a negative reading for 11 months running, however
markets look for an increase to -8.8 
- Consumer confidence plummeted to a 34-month low of -8.1 in Dec and according
to the flash estimate the index remains unchanged in Jan 
- Other survey evidence suggests an uptick in consumer confidence for France and
Germany in Jan, while business sentiment declined slightly in France. 
- Germany's Ifo business climate dropped by 0.4pt in Jan, however manufacturing
sentiment increased significantly 
- The EZ's flash composite PMI recorded a stable reading in Jan, suggesting
subdued business activity
