Economy Minister Announces IMF Program News to Come Imminently

  • Economy Minister Sergio Massa has hinted that there will be fresh news announced regarding the next six months of the nation’s $44 billion program with the IMF. Speaking late on Tuesday, Massa said the information would become public “in the coming hours” without providing more specifics on timing.
    • Massa said his team and he were on a call with IMF staff on Tuesday and announced the imminent news while speaking at a construction conference in Buenos Aires.
  • As a reminder, it was announced that Massa will run for president as the only candidate of the government’s ruling coalition in the October election. On Tuesday, Massa said he would try to not let his presidential candidacy jeopardize economic stability.
