EdF Adjusts Nuclear Capacity Cuts Warning on Heatwave

France’s EdF adjusted on Thursday its production restriction warnings for its nuclear sites amid high temperature forecasts, remit data showed.

  • EdF issued a warning for potential production restrictions at its 2.62GW Golfech nuclear reactors from 21 August onwards amid high temperature forecasts for the Garonne River.
  • The utility delayed the warning of potential capacity cuts for the 3.85GW Bugey reactors to 20 August, from 19 August previously scheduled amid high temperatures at the Rhone River.
  • EdF ended the warning for potential capacity cuts at the Tricastin reactors.
  • Maximum temperatures in Marseilles, southern France, have been revised up for 20-23 August to reach about to 36°C. Power demand during that period has been revised up to rise to up to 53.4GW.
