EURO-DOLLAR: Edges on to a high of $1.1371 but seen meeting some headwinds here.
One technical trader earlier suggested a move to this area but added he would
look for a pullback toward $1.1318(first part achieved, will see if the second
part can complete that picture). US FOMC Minutes due for release at 1900GMT, via
website (no lock-up) due to weather conditions in Washington DC. MNI reports a
consensus from most sell-side notes is that the Jan FOMC minutes will show broad
agreement on a pause in hikes in 2019 and reveal balance sheet thinking, with
hawkish surprises unlikely (see bullet at 15:14GMT/10:14ET). Should rate clear
above $1.1370 to expose next resistance band between $1.1385/1.1400. Traders
aware of the decent option expiries Thursday with strikes set between $1.1380-90
for E952mn and $1.1400-05 for E2.7bn which may draw protective selling ahead.
Support $1.1359/58, stronger between $1.1325/20.
