EGBs-GILTS: Midweek Slew Of Data And Speakers

BOND SUMMARY

An early uptick in Bunds has reversed alongside a reversal higher in equities, with Gilts on the back foot as well in early Wednesday trade - with Eurozone inflation lying ahead.

A good slate of data: UK Q2 GDP 2nd reading, investment not quite as bad as feared; German retail sales better than expected; French inflation weaker than expected; Italy flash inflation up at 1000BST.

In supply, we get E4bln of German Bobl. ECB's Lagarde speaking currently; the schedule also sees Kazimir, Rehn, and Lane, plus BoE's Haldane. Latest levels:

  • Dec Bund futures (RX) down 11 ticks at 174.76 (L: 174.67 / H: 174.93)
  • Dec Gilt futures (G) down 11 ticks at 136.45 (L: 136.36 / H: 136.6)
  • Dec BTP futures (IK) down 18 ticks at 147.91 (L: 147.73 / H: 147.93)
  • Dec OAT futures (OA) down 14 ticks at 168.87 (L: 168.76 / H: 168.99)
  • Italy / German 10-Yr spread 0.5bps tighter at 139.2bps
