EGBs-GILTS: Supply And Italian Politics To Dominate Tuesday

BOND SUMMARY

Bunds and Gilts are a little weaker with periphery spreads tighter early Tuesday, ahead of supply and Italian political developments.

  • Italy PM Conte faces a Senate confidence vote later today, timing TBD (working expectation the proceedings will begin late afternoon). BTP spreads a little tighter.
  • In addition to a scheduled auction (Finland sells E1bn in RFGB), France syndication of new 50-Yr OAT is underway, while we await news of EU SURE and UK 2046 Gilt syndications.
  • German ZEW data at 1000GMT easily the data highlight. Attention later will be on US Treas Sec designee Yellen's confirmation hearing at 1500GMT.

  • Mar Bund futures (RX) down 19 ticks at 177.18 (L: 177.13 / H: 177.33)
  • Mar Gilt futures (G) down 2 ticks at 134.33 (L: 134.2 / H: 134.43)
  • Mar BTP futures (IK) up 11 ticks at 151.18 (L: 151 / H: 151.35)
  • Italy / German 10-Yr spread 2bps tighter at 113.8bps
