Egypt Expected to Pull in 20 LNG Cargoes this Summer

LNG

Egypt expects to import over 20 LNG cargoes over the summer to try and ease power shortages in the country – a huge step up for its imports.

  • State-run Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co. will buy the shipments via tenders through October according to a number of reports.
  • Egypt had largely stopped LNG imports since 2018.
  • So far, the country has bought at least four shipments for delivery to Jordan, from where it’s rerouted to Egypt.
  • It adds further competition for European shipments as they aim to refill inventories this summer.
