Egypt Still Targeting LNG Supplies via Jordan

LNG

Egyptian fertilizer production has slipped due to constrained natural gas supply for the country at present according to ICIS.

  • EGAS will import its next LNG cargo into neighboring Jordan imminently and then flow the volumes back to Egypt, ICIS data shows.
  • The vessel carrying the LNG is the Seapeak Arwa.
  • The LNG vessel Minerva Limnos delivered a US LNG cargo into Jordan in the middle of the month according to ICIS.
  • The gas is expected to flow back via pipeline to Egypt, which is importing more gas as local production fails to keep up with domestic demand.
  • It marked the second recent cargo via Jordan after the Flex Volunteer delivery April 14.
  • The Hoegh Galleon FSRU is still on its way to Egypt to allow the country to import its own cargoes in future and should arrive around mid-June.
