Egyptian LNG FSRU Looks Set for June Operations

LNG

The 170,000cbm Hoegh Galleon LNG FSRU has been transiting Southeast Asia in recent weeks as it heads towards Egypt.

  • It is currently signalling for Port Said, the entry point for the Suez Canal for June 3 according to ICIS.
  • This indicates that the vessel is likely to arrive at Ain Sukhna a day or two later - ready to start operations later in June.
  • Egypt is now reliant on gas imports as it aims to tackle persistent power outages, increasing competition for European suppliers as well as limiting its exports.
  • Hoegh Galleon will be in Ain Sukhna for 19-20 months, after which it will be deployed to Australian Industrial Energy’s LNG terminal currently under construction at Port Kembla, Australia.
