EIA Increased Nov Shale Oil Forecast But Revised Oct Lower

Oil output in the Permian shale oil basin is expected to rise to a record 5.453mbpd in November according to the EIA drilling productivity report released late yesterday.

  • Total output in the major US shale oil basins is forecast to increase by 104kbpd to 9.105mbpd in November, the highest since March 2020.
  • EIA has revised the October shale oil forecast down to 9.001mbpd from 9.115mbpd
  • Monthly changes per region are:
    • Permian +50k to 5.453mbpd
    • Eagle Ford +18k to 1.226mbpd
    • Bakken +22k to 1.19mbpd
    • Niobrara +6k to 0.646mbpd
    • Anadarko +6k to 0.431mbpd
    • Appalachia +2k to 0.122mbpd
    • Haynesville unchanged at 0.037mbpd
