The EIB has granted Cez an additional €400mn loan to modernise the Czech Republic's electricity system, following a similar loan in November 2024, with completion slated for 2026, Cez said.

  • The project will increase the power network's capacity by up to 5.5GW of renewables.
  • The funding will also support the improvement of energy supply reliability and help meet the EU's green transition goals.
  • This follows a similar €400mn loan issued in November 2024, bringing the total loan amount to €800mn in just two months.
  • And the EIB previously loaned €790mn to Cez in 2022 to support similar goals.
