The French government is not planning to increase taxes on electricity, which is expected to lower household power prices, France’s Prime Minister Michel Barnier told Le Figaro, cited by Bloomberg. 

  • Household electricity prices would decrease now by 14%, from 9% previously planned.
  • The government’s budget draft in October stipulated an increase in power taxes, which was expected to generate €3bn in additional tax revenue.
