POWER: Elering, Fingrid to Sue Ship Owner Over 650MW EstLink 2 Repair Costs

POWER

Elering and Fingrid plan to sue the owner of the ship Eagle S to recover the costs of repairing the damaged 650WM EstLink 2 power link between the two countries, Elering said.

  • Additionally, the TSOs have withdrawn their request to seize the vessel, citing high legal and maintenance costs, and anticipate a legal battle that could take up to six years.
  • Due to the length of the legal battle the operators will cover the repair costs upfront to restore the connection quickly.
  • The 650MW power link was disconnected on 25 December 2024 and is expected to return on 31 July 2025.
