EM Equities Remain Rangebound, Despite Robust EM ETF Inflows

  • MSCI's EEM index has traded within the broad 51.50-55.50 range, having failed to hold onto gains above 55 at the end of May.
  • While the lower bound of the lateral channel has remained intact at 52, momentum remains marginally bearish as evidenced by the RSI <50 at 46.2, bearish 50 &100 MA crossover.
  • Key downside support at 51.50, 50.37 (200dma) & 50.00 round number support. Resistance seen at 55.00, 56.26 & 58.00
  • Tentative risk sentiment and rising inflation concerns continue to dampen investor confidence.
  • However, EM ETF inflows have managed to maintain their 29th consecutive week of inflows to reach $43.2bn
  • EM Stock ETFs expanded by $849.3m, while EM Bond funds rose by $182m last week
