The Minister of Finance of Brazil, Fernando Haddad, confirmed on Monday that the government will change the fiscal target to a zero primary deficit as a percentage of gross domestic product in 2025, the same goal as 2024.

Last year, the government announced that the goal for 2025 would be a surplus of 0.5% of GDP, but after frustration with additional revenue measures, discussion about revising the fiscal target gained strength.

"We will have to continue working with the National Congress on measures to reduce expenses and restore revenues," Haddad said in an interview for a Globonews TV show. (See CORRECTED-MNI: Changing Brazil Fiscal Target Not "Plan A")
