Denmark’s first CO2 storage – Project Greensand - in the North Sea subsoil is ready for operations, INEOS said.
- The project has successfully completed the pilot phase.
- The lead partner in Project Greensand, INEOS, has already applied for approval on behalf of its licence partners for Denmark's first large-scale CO2 storage facility, and is now working towards starting CO2 storage in the North Sea by the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026, with the ambition to store 400,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
- Earlier this month, Eni and Snam announced the Ravenna CCS project in Italy is ready for injections, with the development able to store as much as 4 mn/t CO2 per year by 2030.
