EMISSIONS: EU Fails to Give Clarity on Climate Finance Ahead of Cop 29

EMISSIONS

A meeting of EU finance ministers on Tuesday failed again to give clarity on the amount of the new collective quantified goal (NCQG), while reaffirming the bloc’s commitment to $100bn/yr in climate finance for developing countries until 2025 according to Argus.

  • An EU draft negotiating mandate ahead of the UN Cop 29 climate summit by the environment ministers was also light on climate finance with the EU confirming its commitment to existing climate finance goals, while giving no clarity on the new collective quantified goal (NCQG), MNI reported in August.
  • The Cop 29 climate summit will take place 11-22 November in Baku.
