  • The scheme could reduce carbon capture cost for a cement plant in Germany by 20%.
  • Germany is estimated to account for 20% of the bloc’s cement sector’s proposed carbon capture and storage capacity by 2030, with two projects selected for an Innovation fund grant in 2023.
  • The projects received an average funding of $240/ton of annual CO2 capture capacity, equivalent to 56% of the upfront costs for a an average cement plant in Germany.
