The latest EU ETS CAP3 auction cleared slightly higher at €69.37/ton CO2e, compared with €69.32/ton CO2e in the previous auction, while settling at a premium to the futures contract according to EEX.

  • The auction cleared at a 0.02€/ton CO2e premium to the futures contract, compared with a -0.12€/t CO2e discount to the futures contract in the previous session.
  • The cover ratio was at 1.65, compared with 1.57 in the previous auction and below the five-year average but within the five-year range.
  • There was a total of 24 bids with 17 successful bids.
  • The mean price was at €69.65/t CO2e and the median price was at €69.06/t CO2e.
  • EU ETS Dec24 is edging lower today, shrugging off small gains in EU gas prices, with forecasts suggesting milder weather in NW Europe.
