EMISSIONS: Speculators EUA Positioning Turns More Bearish

 Investment funds positioning in EU ETS futures on the ICE exchange turned more bearish with net short positioning increasing for the first time since late July, latest COT data as of 30 August showed.

  • Investment Funds net short positionings increased by 1,890 to -6.685.
  • Investment Firm net short positionings increased by 8,626 to -353,437.
  • Commercial Undertaking net long positionings increased by 4,716 to 279,060.
  • EU ETS Dec24 prices pulled back slightly last week, while trading in a narrow range, despite weekly gains in natural gas prices. Prices have further decreased this week with downward pressure from European natural gas markets.
