Engie Starts Works at 200MW BESS in Belgium

Engie has started construction of the 200MW Battery Energy Storage Systems at its Vilvoorde site in Belgium, the firm said.

  • The BESS will be launched in two phases. The first stage with the commissioning of 100MW of batteries is expected in September 2025 and the other 100MW in January 2026.
  • Engie is also developing two other BESS projects in Belgium, in Kallo with 100MW and Drogenbos with 80MW.
