- Stocks are making modest gains at midday, very near last week's all-time highs in the Dow and S&P Eminis. Currently, the DJIA trades up 49.32 points (0.12%) at 42112.92, S&P E-Minis up 18.25 points (0.32%) at 5780.75, Nasdaq up 66.2 points (0.4%) at 18014.51.
- Real Estate and Materials sectors led gainers in the first half, health care and residential REITs supported the former: Ventas +2.73%, Iron Mountain +2.04%, Welltower Inc +1.87%. Metals and mining shares supported the Materials sector: Freeport-McMoran +2.04%, Newmont +1.91%, Steel Dynamics +0.66%.
- On the flipside, Health Care and Information Technology sectors underperformed in the first half, pharmaceutical & biotech shares weighing on the Health Care sector: Bio-Techne -1.25%, Incyte -1.14%, Biogen -1.11%. Semiconductor makers weighed on the IT sector: Qualcomm and Zebra Technology both -1.70%, Oracle -1.64%, Salesforce Inc -1.58%.
