Erdogan Sends Defiant Message to West Ahead of Elections

  • President Erdogan expressed confidence that he will be re-elected next month in an interview with CNN-Turk television late Wednesday. “With the elections, Turkey will give a message to the West. This nation is no longer thinking about the reaction of the West while it is fighting terrorism or determining its economy policies,” Erdogan said.
  • Hurriyet report that Turkey is ramping up its efforts to transform the industrial sector in compliance with the EU’s green deal by implementing a comprehensive and ambitious project. The size of the Green Industry Project, aimed at facilitating the nation’s transition to the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and reducing carbon emissions in production, is $450 million. Under the project, $250 million worth of loans will be provided to SMEs to help them with their green transformation.
  • Turkish and Egyptian top diplomats will have another meeting today discussing bilateral ties, with expectations that they will announce when the two nations will exchange ambassadors, Hurriyet report.
