Eskom Media Briefing Pushed Back Amid Talks With Ramaphosa

News wires report that a spokesman for South Africa's electricity utility Eskom told reporters in a WhatsApp message that the media briefing scheduled for this afternoon has been postponed "due to emergency engagements" with President Cyril Ramaphosa.

  • "While we aim to hold the media briefing as soon as possible, the date and time can only be confirmed once meetings with the president are concluded."
  • Reminder that Ramaphosa called off his visit to the WEF in Davos to deal with the deepening energy crisis at home that has seen rolling blackouts break new records.
