Eskom To Reduce Load-Shedding, Will Alternate Between Stages 5 & 6

Eskom tweets that "Stage 6 loadshedding will continue to be implemented until 05:00 on Tuesday. Thereafter, loadshedding will be implemented at Stage 5 in the mornings and at Stage 6 in the afternoons." The utility notes that "this pattern will be repeated until further notice."

  • This represents a marginal de-escalation from the prior settings, when Eskom was running Stage 6 load-shedding indefinitely, while some watchers highlighted that the utility may have effectively exceeded that level last Thursday.
  • The utility notes that "over the past 24 hours a generation unit each at Camden, Koeberg and Medupi power stations were returned to service."
