Estonia and Finland Set to Boost LNG Import Infrastructure

An LNG import vessel will be based at Finland’s Inkoo port later this year, to help facilitate LNG imports for both Finland and Estonia.

  • The governments made a joint decision in April to rent the vessel from US based Excelerate Energy for 10 years to help the countries move away from Russian volumes.
  • "We have agreed that the LNG terminal will ensure the gas supplies of both Estonia and Finland on equal terms." said a joint statement by the nations out today.
  • The vessel can be situated in either Paldiski in Estonia or Inkoo in Finland. Inkoo has been chosen initially because it is deemed a safer location after the attacks on the Nord Stream pipelines.
