EU Agriculture Mins To Discuss Ukrainian Imports Next Week, Poland's Consumer Confidence Due

  • The European Commission's talks with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria on Ukrainian agricultural imports did not bring any result, as the five countries deemed measures proposed by the Commission insufficient. They have called for a joint response to what they consider to be a crisis on domestic food markets caused by Ukrainian imports piling up on their territories. The matter will be discussed again at the summit of all 27 EU Agriculture Ministers next week.
  • Poland's EU Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sek told public radio that he hopes that the Constitutional Tribunal will hold a hearing on a key court law on May 30. There have been doubts whether the Tribunal will be able to issue a ruling given a ongoing procedural dispute among judges.
  • Poland's statistics office will publish consumer confidence data for April. The index may have recovered to -35.0 from -35.6, according to a Bloomberg poll of analysts.
