EU Carbon Allowances Extend Gains

EU carbon allowances for December 24 delivery are extending today’s gains to the highest since 10 May, supported by gains in the wider European energy complex and forecasts for low wind power output, supporting fossil-fuel generation.

    • EUA DEC 24 up 3.8% at 73.41 EUR/MT
  • German wind is forecast between 2.9GW and 18.8GW during base-load hours on 21-27 May. Combined onshore and offshore output in the Netherlands is forecast at 176MW to 2.9GW during base-load hours on 21-29 May according to spotrenwables.
  • Monday’s EU ETS CAP3 EU auction cleared higher at €71.24/MWh, up from €68.28/t CO2e in the previous auction held on 16 May according to EEX.
